Dear students,
I think all of you are aware about the
incident happened in the hostels in which about 70 students from 42nd
batch leaving the hostels without informing wardens, totally
disregarding the instructions given. Entire Faculty including the Vice
Chancellor and the Deputy Vice Chancellor condemn this irresponsible
behavior from a group of medical students. This is a severe breach of
trust the Faculty had on them.
Students should
realize that this is a difficult period and all of us should go
through it bravely with a sense of responsibility. That is the
responsibility of protecting others by protecting oneself.
The
group students who behaved in irresponsible manner had apologized for
misbehavior in the zoom meeting I had with them, and promised that they
would not behave in such a manner in the future. They have sent a letter
of apology to dean with the same promise signed by them.
After a discussions with Deputy Senior Student Counselor, Deputy Proctor and the Wardens following decisions were taken.
1.
Accepting the apology and assurance given on behaving in such a manner
again the students will be allowed to come to the hostels from Sunday
7th of March.
2. The parents will be officially informed about the incident.
3.
Students will be allowed to go home leaving hostels only once in four
weeks, and the wardens and sub wardens will monitor their movements.
4.
No student can leave the hostels and go away without permission of
wardens and academic sub wardens what ever the reasons is.
5.
All planned leave should be informed by Wednesday of the week as we
have to restrict massive movements in and out hostels as it might
increase the potential risks.
6. In an emergency the student can get permission to go home from wardens or directly from dean.
7.
Anybody found breaking these safety measures will be punished, and the
least punishment will be that they will have to leave the hostels for
ever.
8. The Faculty
sincerely believe the students stay in boarding places also will adhere
to the same principles with self discipline for the benefit of many even
though we have no reliable way to monitor their behavior.
This decision was informed to Deputy Vice Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor and both approved it.
However the Vice Chancellor agreed on with reservations.
I am sure all of you will adhere to this measures which are taken for your own safety.
